A total of three Town Meetings have been held during the course of the project to inform the public of the project's progress at key milestones and to involve the public on the development of alternatives.The fourth town meeting will be combined with a Public Hearing to receive public comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS). A summary of the town meetings held to date is described below.

A Public Hearing for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement was held April 19th, 2006 at the Colorado Convention Center.

Approximately 50 people attended the public hearing.

Town Meeting No. 3 - January 27, 2004 bullet View Meeting Minutes [PDF 1.2 MB]

The third town meeting was held on January 27, 2004 at the Colorado Convention Center . Its purpose was three-fold: 1) present the draft Master Plan; 2) present the then proposed new zone (TMU-30) for the DUS property; and 3) describe the screening process and evaluation criteria used to select the final build alternative for the Draft EIS. Overviews of the Draft Master Plan and the zoning application submitted to the City and County of Denver (CCD) to rezone the DUS property were also presented. Graphic exhibits were on display depicting the project alternatives, the screening process, and the new zoning classification for the DUS property.

Approximately 130 people attended the third town meeting.

Town Meeting No. 2 - September 12, 2002

Town Meeting No. 2 was held on Thursday, September 12, 2002, at the Colorado Convention Center. The purpose of this second meeting was to solicit public comments on the range of initial alternatives developed by the project team for the transportation and development components of the DUS Master Plan. Graphic boards were displayed depicting the range of alternatives that were considered, including design program features. Additionally, graphic boards described the EIS process, areas of environmental investigations, and possible issues of concern. Historic photos of DUS and the proposed boundaries of the Area of Potential Effect (APE) were also displayed.

Approximately 154 people attended the second town meeting.

Town Meeting No. 1 - June 20, 2002 bullet View Meeting Minutes [PDF 150 kb]

Town Meeting No.1 was held on Thursday, June 20, 2002 at the Colorado Convention Center. The purpose of this first meeting was to formally kickoff the public scoping process and to identify the scope of issues to be addressed in the Draft EIS. The meeting introduced members of the project team, and described the Master Plan and NEPA processes that would be followed during the course of study process. In addition, representatives to the Union Station Advisory Committee (USAC) were selected at this meeting by their constituents. Display boards depicting the historic images of the DUS building and photos of existing interior and exterior features were displayed.

Approximately 200 people attended the first town meeting.
